EYE SPY: Hani Sidewalk Art: Marilyn Monroe

I had the pleasure of catching up with Hani down on Houston & Sullivan while he was working on his latest street-peace: a magnificent portrait of Marilyn Monroe.

We talked briefly about art, the origin of names and what drove him to use the sidewalk as a canvas.

He said, “I started out of desperation. I’m from Palestine, I could either be a killer or an artist. I chose art – it’s much harder. To kill, all you have to do is pick up a gun and shoot.”
