Below Ground Yet Above The Radar

There are few things in life -especially in New York City- that are, to say the least, unpredictable. If your talking about fashion, this unpredictability is multiplied by millions due to the number of people that live, work and play here.

I just saw one of the most outrageously put together outfits I’ve seen in quite some time while waiting for the D train at Broadway & Lafayette to hurry me back to Harlem. Black fur hat, cream colored fur coat, purple stockings, black patent leather pointy toed shoes and a few cut up tee shirts to make the look complete. And dark black shades with some rinestones all around them paired with Gucci clutch. All on this young man, maybe in his early twenties, who quickly remind just how close we are to fashion week.

Of course I snatched my phone out of my pocket and snapped a photo quicker than a security guard could whisper paparrazzi to a celebrity client. In retrospect, I should have just asked the young man to pose for the picture because anyone bold enough to push style to the limits the way he had is obviously ready to strike a pose and be recognized.

Maybe next time. Maybe.
