I had the pleasure of being part of a pop up art show this past Friday in a secret location down in SoHo. Curated by Derrick Harden and Perry Dash, the show bought together several talented artists and attracted an incredible crowd of art lovers, collectors and creative enthusiasts. Here’s what you missed.
I took a trip over to the Upper East Side in the pouring rain this weekend to see Sotheby’s latest selling exhibition for Jean-Michel Basquiat. “Man Made” is simply fantastic and I’ll post more pics as I continue to go back until it ends in early June. Here’s a few of my absolute favorites to get you headed over in that direction.
Every now and then the world comes across an artist that seems to have “been here before,” not because his work reminds us of something we’ve seen but rather because it gives off the feel that it’s from a time before this one we’re living in. Shane “B. Ready” Garron is definitely from a time before this one.

Artist Watch: Hulbert Waldrop
Hulbert Waldrop has an uncanny work ethic both on and off canvas. I had the pleasure of watching the undeniable talent at work down in SoHo this afternoon. Here’s one of his collectors claimed today.
The Harlem Wine Gallery presents another great talent in Arnaud Randé. Be sure to make your way up to Harlem check out the work – it’s amazing.
Not only did I have the pleasure of attending the Heath Gallery’s annual “6×6″ exhibit on Friday, curated this year by Mike McManus, which hosts a number of great artist’s work on various mediums in the 6in x 6in format, I was fortunate enough to have a few pieces presented in the show as well.
The experience was just as incredible as the work presented. Make your way up to Harlem and check out the work.
Sometimes the art does more than speak for itself, it speaks for its audience. Zhang Xaiogang is a voice that whispers through the silence with the loudest kind of noise. Make your way to the PACE Gallery and let your eyes have a listen.
Will Kurtz is has definitely gotten himself into some shit. Make your way over to the Mike Weiss Gallery and watch your step – you wouldn’t want to break the artwork.
Tuesday’s art crawl led me to Elliott Hundley and some explosive work at the Andrea Rosen Gallery. If you’re in town, run out and get your BOOM!
